  • 24th: The Doors release "Light My Fire" The Residents would go on to cover the song in 1975, for their Third Reich N Roll album.

May

  • 26th: The Beatles release the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" The Residents would go on to sample the title track in their 1973 demo tape "1-10"
  • Also featuring on the album is "A Day In The Life", which would be sampled and the basis for the title of "Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life"
  • The people who would become The Residents graduate from Louisiana Tech University.

  • 24th: The Beach Boys release "Heroes & Villains" The Residents would go on to cover the song in 1974, for their Third Reich N Roll album.

  • The Box Tops release "The Letter" The Residents would go on to cover the song in 1974, for their Third Reich N Roll album.

  • The Human Beinz release Nobody But Me. It is later sampled by The Residents on their 1973 track "N-ER-GEE (Crisis Blues)"
  • Lulu releases "To Sir, with Love"The Residents would go on to cover the song in 1974, for their Third Reich N Roll album.

  • John Fred & His Playboy Band release "Judy in Disguise (With Glasses)" The Residents would go on to cover the song in 1975, for their Third Reich N Roll album.

  • The Band Cream, release "Sunshine of Your Love" The Residents would go on to cover the song in 1975, for their Third Reich N Roll album.
  • 24th: The Beatles release "I Am the Walrus", a track The Residents would later sample on their 1977 song "Beyond the Valley of a Day In The Life"
  • 27th: The Beatles release their "Magical Mystery Tour" album, it features Blue Jay Way, and Flying, which The Residents would sample and cover respectively on their 1977 single "The Beatles play The Residents and The Residents play The Beatles"
