For The Residents, 2021 has largely based around preparation for the largely re-schedueld Dog Stab tour, as well as production on Triple Trouble. It's noted by the release of Duck Stab Alive!, The Residents' newest album and video project, recorded live in the studio over a period of two days.

Timeline

January

  • 2nd: Klanggalerie releases Oddities 2013-2015, an archival collection of Bobuck outtakes (credited to Bob Uck and the Family Truck).
  • 18th: The latex eyeball masks by SikRik are re-stocked.

February

March

April

  • 9th: The outtakes collection Ozark is reissued on vinyl by Secret Records.
  • 16th: The RSD releases El Año del Muerto and Morning Music are reissued on CD by Klanggalerie.
  • 20th: The Residents upload an instrumental demo remake of "Constantinople" and invite fans to film themselves singing along to the recording, to be included in the Duck Stab Alive project.

May

June

  • 5th: DUCK STAB! ALIVE! is released on Night Flight Plus.
  • 12th: Leftovers Again?!, an archival LP of unissued 1970s material, is released for Record Store Day.
    • This release introduces the RDX concept, in which The Residents explore their multitrack tapes and create new versions of songs.

August

  • 3rd: The Residents create their TikTok account, where they post one-minute clips serving as new videos for Commercial Album songs, with the aid of John Sanborn. New clips are posted to the account for about a month.[2]
  • 4th: Homer Flynn is interviewed for WZRD Chicago Radio. The interview largely concerns the upcoming Dog Stab tour.[3]
  • 12th: Due to travel complications, the majority of dates for the Dog Stab tour are cancelled.[4]

September

  • 9th: Homer Flynn is interviewed by KFAI.[5]
  • 15th: The Residents perform Dog Stab at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles, California.
  • 17th: The Residents perform Dog Stab at the Castro Theater in San Francisco, California.
  • 18th: The Residents perform Dog Stab at the Rio Theater in Santa Cruz, California.
  • 29th: Homer Flynn is interviewed for the In Defense of Ska podcast.[6]

October

November

December

  • 7th: Matt Bennett's interview with Homer Flynn (likely recorded in July, given certain questions asked) is uploaded to YouTube.[9]
  • 10th: The DUCK STAB! ALIVE! soundtrack is released by Grand Chess Records in CD/10" and DVD. A VHS edition is also announced in 40 copies.
    • On this same date, the Dog Stab European tour is rescheduled for 2023.
  • 27th: Homer Flynn is interviewed by humo.be.[10]
  • 28th: The Wonder of Weird Demos 2 is released by Klanggalerie.
