2022 saw The Residents largely promoting their Triple Trouble feature film.

January
- 7th: Melodic Virtue publishes A Sight for Sore Eyes volume 1, with the exclusive 7" single "Nobody's Nos". Deluxe editions of the book came with a notebook of original lyric drafts for Duck Stab / Buster & Glen.[1]
- 13th: Homer Flynn is interviewed for the Cacophony Podcast.[2]
- 28th: The Wormwood Box is released by Cherry Red / MVD.
- The box set chronicles the Wormwood project, presenting the original album, the live-in-the-studio Roadworms, Live in Europe 1999, two discs of demos, and a complete recording of the 1998 Fillmore concert.
- 29th: At the suggestion of John Sanborn, The Residents release their NFT '01 The Residents Blue' to cover costs for the DUCK STAB! ALIVE! special.
February
- 1st: Homer Flynn responds to the outcry brought on by The Residents' involvement with NFTs. Shortly following this, the group announces that further NFT sales will be discontinued.[3]
- 9th: Homer Flynn is interviewed by Make Weird Music.[4]
- 12th: Homer Flynn is interviewed by the Industry Tactics podcast.
- 24th: Two performances of God in 3 Persons are announced at the Presidio Theater in San Francisco.[5]
- 25th: The Santa Dog 50th Anniversary Collection is released by Secret Records (with vinyl pre-orders shipping in April).
- 28th: Hardy Fox's unissued soundtrack to The Stone, Ibbur, is released by Klanggalerie under the TOOK sub-label, bundled with Alieno de Bootes' tribute album Unconventional Residents.
March
- 29th: Bad Day on the Midway and Freak Show are made available for free download at Max Wegner's website, aided by DOSBox emulation, with the endorsement of the Cryptic Corporation and Michael Nash of Inscape.[6]
April
- 14th: An Indiegogo campaign is launched by John Sanborn to finance a video shoot of the God in 3 Persons performances at the Presidio.
- 20th: Subterranean Modern is reissued on CD by Klanggalerie.
- 23rd: Warning: Uninc., a vinyl release of the group's 1971-1972 live appearances and the complete 1-10 (with a Touch of 11) tape, is released for Record Store Day.
- 29th: Psychic, the debut album by Polyhedren, is released. The Residents and Josh Freese feature on one track "Sixteen Gold Candles".
May
- 14th - 15th: The Residents perform God in 3 Persons for two nights at the Presidio Theatre Performing Arts Center.
- 20th: The Residents' Cherry Red newsletter is revamped with a free MP3, "Six Minutes of Satisfaction". Further newsletters would usually offer free tracks from the group's archive.
- 27th: Wormwood is released on vinyl by Cherry Red / MVD.
June
- 14th: The Residents release a collection of 50 trading cards in a limited edition of 100, with the fiftieth card in the set being the poster for Triple Trouble.
- 18th: The Residents perform God in 3 Persons at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
- 21st: A trailer for Triple Trouble is hosted at the Consequence of Sound website.
- 25th: Homer Flynn and Aaron Tanner host a book signing for A Sight for Sore Eyes at the Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco. / More God in 3 Persons performances are announced in Germany.
- 29th: Triple Trouble premieres at the 29th Chicago Underground Film Festival.
August
- 12th: The German performances of God in 3 Persons are cancelled due to COVID-19 safety concerns.
September
- 9th: The Residents rebrand the Dog Stab tour into the "Faceless Forever 50th Anniversary" tour.
- 12th: Triple Trouble is streamed digitally as part of the Sydney Underground Film Festival.
- 17th: Triple Trouble is shown at the Arizona Underground Film Festival.
- 19th: The So Long Sam live album is released by Klanggalerie.
October
- 13th: The Residents perform Faceless Forever at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California.
- 15th: Triple Trouble is shown at the Mill Valley Film Festival.
- 21st: Snakefinger's Chewing Hides the Sound is reissued on vinyl by Secret Records.
November
- 5th: Cherry Red announces their vinyl reissue campaign of The Residents' "classic series" with new RDX material. Psychofon also announces their Collector's Editions of the classic series to be issued simultaneously.
- 11th: Alex Wroten's album The Gatekeepers is released; The Residents feature on the song "The Patron".
- 18th: The Triple Trouble soundtrack album is released by Cherry Red / MVD and Psychofon. An alternate mix of a section from the album is released as a teaser on YouTube, titled "Trouble Comin' Every Day".
December
- 1st: Triple Trouble's home media release is announced for March 24th, 2023.[7]
- 7th: Northern US dates are added to The Residents' Faceless Forever tour.
- 9th: The Faceless Forever encyclopedia is published by Cherry Red along with the "Santa Dog 2022" single.
- 14th: A secret invitation-only event is announced for early 2023 in San Francisco.
- 29th: Homer Flynn is interviewed on YouTube channel Filmusik.[8]
