2022 saw The Residents largely promoting their Triple Trouble feature film.

  • 14th - 15th: The Residents perform God in 3 Persons for two nights at the Presidio Theatre Performing Arts Center.
  • 20th: The Residents' Cherry Red newsletter is revamped with a free MP3, "Six Minutes of Satisfaction". Further newsletters would usually offer free tracks from the group's archive.
  • 27th: Wormwood is released on vinyl by Cherry Red / MVD.

June

  • 14th: The Residents release a collection of 50 trading cards in a limited edition of 100, with the fiftieth card in the set being the poster for Triple Trouble.
  • 18th: The Residents perform God in 3 Persons at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
  • 21st: A trailer for Triple Trouble is hosted at the Consequence of Sound website.
  • 25th: Homer Flynn and Aaron Tanner host a book signing for A Sight for Sore Eyes at the Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco. / More God in 3 Persons performances are announced in Germany.
  • 29th: Triple Trouble premieres at the 29th Chicago Underground Film Festival.

August

  • 12th: The German performances of God in 3 Persons are cancelled due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

September

  • 9th: The Residents rebrand the Dog Stab tour into the "Faceless Forever 50th Anniversary" tour.
  • 12th: Triple Trouble is streamed digitally as part of the Sydney Underground Film Festival.
  • 17th: Triple Trouble is shown at the Arizona Underground Film Festival.
  • 19th: The So Long Sam live album is released by Klanggalerie.

October

November

  • 5th: Cherry Red announces their vinyl reissue campaign of The Residents' "classic series" with new RDX material. Psychofon also announces their Collector's Editions of the classic series to be issued simultaneously.
  • 11th: Alex Wroten's album The Gatekeepers is released; The Residents feature on the song "The Patron".
  • 18th: The Triple Trouble soundtrack album is released by Cherry Red / MVD and Psychofon. An alternate mix of a section from the album is released as a teaser on YouTube, titled "Trouble Comin' Every Day".

December

  • 1st: Triple Trouble's home media release is announced for March 24th, 2023.[7]
  • 7th: Northern US dates are added to The Residents' Faceless Forever tour.
  • 9th: The Faceless Forever encyclopedia is published by Cherry Red along with the "Santa Dog 2022" single.
  • 14th: A secret invitation-only event is announced for early 2023 in San Francisco.
  • 29th: Homer Flynn is interviewed on YouTube channel Filmusik.[8]
