Unconventional Residents is a series of limited edition Residents cover albums by Italian musician Alieno de Bootes, which have been released by Austrian label Klanggalerie as part of the Hardy Fox-founded TOOK series since the release of the first entry in the series, Unconventional Residents, in 2022.

The second entry, Unconventional Residents II, was released in 2023, followed by a digital-only outtakes compilation, Unconventional Residents - Alternates & Outtakes, later in the year. The third entry in the series, Unconventional Residents III, was released in February 2024, and the fourth and final entry, Unconventional Residents IV, was released in July 2025.

The series

Unconventional Residents (2022)

The first entry in Italian artist Alieno de Bootes' series of Residents tribute albums, Unconventional Residents, was released by Klanggalerie on February 28th 2022, as part of the TOOK series of limited edition CD releases.

The album features nineteen Residents covers by de Bootes and collaborators, as well as three short original tracks by de Bootes: "Bod (Prologue)", "End of Today" and "After All".

Unconventional Residents II (2023)

The second entry in Alieno de Bootes' series of Residents tribute albums, Unconventional Residents, was released by Klanggalerie on February 28th 2023 (one year after the first instalment) as part of the TOOK series of limited edition CD releases.

The album features sixteen Residents covers with two original tracks ("Prologue" and "My Second Wife (On 'Fire')") co-composed by de Bootes.

Unconventional Residents III (2024)

Unconventional Residents III, the third and most recent entry in the Unconventional Residents series of cover albums by Alieno de Bootes, was released in February 2024 by Klanggalerie, as part of the limited edition TOOK series, co-founded by Hardy Fox.

A number of tracks on the album feature guest vocals from Brian Poole of The Residents' collaborators and former Ralph Records stablemates Renaldo & The Loaf.

Unconventional Residents IV, the fourth and final entry in the Unconventional Residents series of cover albums by Alieno de Bootes, was released on July 13th 2025 by Klanggalerie, as part of the limited edition TOOK series, co-founded by Hardy Fox.

The album features guest appearances from Ralph alumni Renaldo M. of Renaldo & The Loaf and Blaine L. Reininger of Tuxedomoon.
