2023 is The Residents' 50th Anniversary, noticeably celebrated by the Faceless Forever world tour.

- 9th: The Residents announce the Faceless Forever European tour.
- 12th: Hardy Fox's audiobook Wallpaper is released on CD by Klanggalerie, alongside the Hotel California EP.
- 13th: The 3xLP pREServed edition of Meet the Residents is released by Cherry Red / MVD, with several new outtakes from the album sessions including the curious "Ralph Records Guided Tour" by Hardy Fox.
- As a pre-order bonus, the original sampler disc issued on File magazine was included as a one-sided 7" single. These pre-order 7" singles were issued in transparent sleeves with no artwork except for an identifying sticker.
- 14th: The Residents host their 50th Anniversary secret show at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with several guest artists.
- 26th: The Residents perform Faceless Forever at the Conservatoire de Bourges, France.
- Filmmaker Marie Losier follows the world tour for a documentary.
- 27th: The Residents perform at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
- 28th: The Residents perform at Zeche Carl in Essen, Germany.
- 29th: The Residents perform at the Botanique in Brussels, Belgium. Psychofon reissues Meet the Residents in a 'gimmick' Collector's Edition with a cut-out cover and paper Beatle mask.

- 12th: Alieno de Bootes' Unconventional Residents Vol. 2 is released by Klanggalerie (TOOK).
- 14th: The Dangerous Minds website publishes an interview with Homer Flynn.[1]
- 16th: The Residents perform at the Wonder Ballroom, Portland, Oregon. Free Musick releases their video interview with Homer Flynn.[2]
- Triple Trouble is screened as a pre-show event on this part of the tour.
- 17th: The Residents perform at Fremont Abbey in Seattle, Washington. The 2xLP pREServed edition of Fingerprince is released by Cherry Red / MVD, including the Leapmus tape and the "Tournament of Roses" RDX suite.
- As a pre-order bonus, the Babyfingers EP was included.
- 18th: The Residents perform at the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia.
- 20th: The Residents perform at the Urban Lounge in Salt Lake City, Utah.

- 20th: Guitarist Nolan Cook makes a silent decision to quit The Residents.
- 21st: The God in 3 Persons live DVD is released by MVD.

- 25th: The 2xLP pREServed edition of Duck Stab / Buster & Glen is released by Cherry Red / MVD, including the "Shitty Rock 'n' Roll" RDX suite.

- 30th: Producer Victor Cantu announces that he and the Cryptic Corporation are seeking financial backing to produce a Residents-directed film titled Loveland (first mentioned in the 2022 book Faceless Forever).

- 16th: Graeme Whifler uploads his full collection of Vileness Fats photos to Flickr.
- 31st: The 2xLP pREServed edition of Not Available is released, including the X is for Xtra multitrack sessions.
- As a pre-order bonus, a "work-in-progress" edit of the album was included as a 7" single.
June
- 15th: A Sight for Sore Eyes Vol. 2 is made available for pre-order.

- 7th: The 2xLP pREServed editions of Eskimo and Commercial Album are released, including the "ICE" and "COMS 1-3" RDX suites respectively.
- As a pre-order bonus for Eskimo, a reconstruction of the album by Renaldo & The Loaf made in 2019 was included as a 7" single.
- As a pre-order bonus for Commercial Album, a few radio ads for the album, sequenced like the Commercial Single, were included.
- 24th: Melodic Virtue's A Sight For Sore Eyes Vol. 2, showcasing work from 1983 to 1997, is published, including the exclusive single "That'll Be the Day (Baby Baby)". Deluxe editions included a Cube-E figurine and a book of the UWEB newsletters.
- 29th: Psychofon reissues Duck Stab and Not Available in 'gimmick' Collector's Editions.
- 30th: Paul Reubens, creator of Pee-wee Herman and host of Pee-wee's Playhouse, dies at age 70. The Residents, Molly Harvey, and countless others pay their respects.
- 31st: Chris McGregor, production designer and lighting technician for The Residents from 1989 to 2022, dies at age 61. Homer Flynn makes a short video in tribute to him.
August
- 24th: RA publishes the article pREServing The Residents on the Cherry Red website.

November
- 5th: In an interview for the Electronically Yours podcast, Homer Flynn reveals that classical conductor Edwin Outwater will be working on The Residents' next album.
