Official News Blog and Website Wrapper, October 2003
The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning August 15th 2003, following the company's purchase of the residents.com domain name from fan site RZWeb (now defunct).
The blog later developed into the BOG, a dedicated news blog which was The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in October 2003, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

- 1. What is the difference between the various versions of the DDA DVD?
- 2. What is the weird video when you click on the word "Pickle" on the Golden Goat DVD single? Why "Pickle"?
- 1. The DDA versions are:
- ---A. The Directors Cut. Limited numbered edition with photo book and interactive menu. Contains five extra 5.1 surround mixes of missing pieces of the show plus a video used to motivate the sales staff at RYKO distribution when the DDA album was first released September 2002. And maybe some other things if you know where to look. Released in September, 03.
- ---B. The "store" version. Standard plastic DVD case. Interactive menu. Includes "Pickle" as a bonus. Predicted to be released in November, 03.
- ---C. Promotional version. Standard plastic DVD case. No menu - the program just plays. No extras, bonus beauties, or hidden anythings. Not for sale, instead it is given away to media and others under special promotions. For instance it was given away on the final DDA tour for free if you bought "Golden Goat." Cover art different from store version. Produced in September, 03 for journalists.
- 2. The weird video is a kind of commercial with screen grabs from other Residents DVD's. It can be referred to as Pickle if you want to call it something. Why is it called pickle? No one will say.

DDA Tour Diary - - Lead character masks absent for Nijmegen performance
- DDA masks, left in San Francisco by mistake, do not arrive in time for the first performance
- When cases were first opened to prepare for the public dress rehearsal in Nijmegen, Holland, it was discovered that the lead character masks had not been packed. A snappy Federal Express managed to get the masks to Gent, Belgium in time, but the Nijmegen performance just proceeded without them. After all, the show must go on. Here's what the performers looked like in that unique show.

- Are The Residents playing any Halloween shows this year like they often do?
- The short answer is...nope. The group only recently returned from Greece and they are now in the process of reorganizing as they officially launch their fourth decade.
- The show, Demons Dance Alone, played San Francisco's Warfield Theater on Halloween of 2002, so it would not make sense to perform the same show again this year and there is not sufficient time to organize anything new.

Euro Ralph America -- Easy Come Easy Go

- I have been notified that the Directors' Cut of DEMONS DANCE ALONE DVD is down to a handful which may be gone by the time you read this, making it the fastest sellout of a limited edition in the history of those two companies.
- The pressure to get the regular version into the shops has been increased and expectations are that it will be available in early November. I have been promised a "street date" to publish as soon as there is one.

Ralph America - - The Golden Goat DVD single now in stock
- Golden Goat (aka "Pickle") finally arrives at Ralph AM
- The first single from the Demons Dance Alone DVD is "The Golden Goat." The NTSC/all region DVD includes a single sized edit of The Golden Goat video, plus a radical remix of both the video and music.
- The single is also noteworthy in that the sound for the videos has not been compressed. Because there was space on the disc, the music is in full PCM (like on CD's) format.
- As a bonus track, the homo-erotic SM video for "Teddy" is included. This video was originally made for a proposed sequel to the DVD, Icky Flix. When the idea was dropped to do a follow-up, Teddy just got pushed off into a corner until being rediscovered this summer. Warning, contains nudity and fetishistic behavior.
