The Residents Blog, August 2008
The Residents' Blog was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper, then The Residents' Official News BOG and later Official News Blog).
The BOG became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign early in this month. At this point (at least according to the website's header after the redesign) the blog was simply called The Residents Blog.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in August 2008, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

The Bunny Boy Series
Aug/22/08 08:51 AM

- Okay, everyone knows The Bunny Boy album is going to be here in a few days, and the tour is rolling into cities in the US and Europe this fall. Little information has been released about the internet series. Here are some answers to some of your questions.
- ° The series is made up of short video pieces that run consecutively. Each is numbered.
- ° The shows will be posted monday, wednesday, and friday of each week starting monday, September 1.
- ° The shows can be found here on TheResidentsTV as well as YouTube/theresidents. They will be archived in both places. There is no danger of missing an episode.
- ° However, in both cases, the videos in these two locations will be lower resolution streaming versions. The best place to view the episodes will be the web site being set up to house the episodes. The videos will be full screen (640x480) on this web site. They will be archived there as well. The web site address will be announced soon.
- ° There is an interactive element to the series but this will not be evident immediately as the production is running ahead of real time.
- ° The connection between the album and the series is, “The album is inspired by the series.” They do not duplicate each other, the internet series has a music score not taken from the album.
- ° The connection between the live show and the series is, “The show is inspired by the series and the album.”
- ° The total number of internet shows is unknown. It is scheduled to run through the remainder of 2008, but is open-ended and could, in theory, run forever.

What's the difference?
Aug/28/08 12:59 PM
- Today I got my hands on an SDR copy of The Bunny Boy so I can see what differs in the two label’s package.
- First, both are jewel cases. The covers are identical. You would not know one from the other just looking at them. The backs are also identical except for logos, barcodes and their placement.
- The discs themselves are completely different printings. The SDR copy repeats the cover color design while the Mute CD is only 2 colors - red and black.
- The inside graphics of the SDR booklet has a washed out quality compared to the Mute booklet - both booklets are the same otherwise, 20 pages of mostly lyrics and relevant images.
- All things equal otherwise (like price), I would go for the Mute release.
